  • Comic: Nik’s Birthday

I came up with a name for my comic strip finally!! When I showed Joe the mock-up for this panel he requested that I perfect his conqueror form. haha.  I love how it turned out. It makes more sense if you know our last name. Which I’m sure you can guess now that I’ve said that. ;)

I branched out and drew a comic of my sister in law and her family. I sent it to her for her birthday. She loved it and posted a pic of it on facebook with the caption: “Card from the amazing sister in law who knows my family WAY too well!!!”

    Here’s the scanned version:

I’m so making all of these into a coffee table book someday.

  • Changing up the Chalkboard

    Goodbye February…and hello March!  It’s Joe’s birthday month. :)

  • Snow, Roses, and Taxes

We escaped winter without any major snowstorms, which is awesome because that means we didn’t have to buy Joe any Carharts (he works outside) and he didn’t have to miss any unpaid days from work!  We actually didn’t get our first snowfall until the day before Valentine’s Day:

Speaking of Valentine’s Day, we worked hard to get all of our metal flower orders out in time! Joe lines his tools up perfectly before he begins working. Proof that we belong together!  I had to laugh that his phone and the remote are considered tools. ;)

We like to high five when we flop onto the couch in front of a movie to cut out pieces to make the flowers. It’s like we’re getting paid to watch TV.

A funky garden of metal stems drying.

    A bunch of blooms drying.

A batch of reds, ready to be mailed in all directions!

Packaging up the last of our Valentine’s Day orders! Woohoo!

Thankfully, orders have continued to roll in since then. We were wondering if it was only a holiday rush, so we’ll see how long it lasts! We’re having fun with it though. Joe got to buy some new tools with his profits. Someday I know he’ll have his own workshop, but for now the living room is where all the action is. :)

    A purple peony.

We’ve started hanging flowers to dry since the more we have to keep track of, the harder it is to keep the curious kitties out of the way. They stay safe hanging from the ceiling! So far. haha

Our first experiment with painting a tipped rose.

Khloe sitting on a perch Joe made for a tool that she thinks is specially made for her.

Newly modeling our giant frame full of orders, quotes, goals, marketing ideas, and gift ideas. I’m working on making this look a little cuter. The frame, not the kitty. He couldn’t get any cuter, even if I put a bow on him…

And lastly, this picture of Khloe helping me read up on boring business stuff. It must have helped though, because I just completed our personal & business taxes via TurboTax. It was my first time doing small business taxes and I was nervous about it. I have a free mentor through the Oklahoma Small Business Administration, and I ask him lots of dumb questions that he answers so graciously. We made it through tax season together and now that I’ve survived it, I know what to expect and how to be better prepared and organized next year. I’m looking into free websites like Outright and Shoeboxed, and I’ll do a review if I end up liking them!

I’m happy that the weather is warming up a bit.  It’s still cool in the mornings, but it got up to 72 yesterday! I’ll end on this early morning frosty windshield picture that I took before church a couple weeks ago.  He’s my hero. ;)

  • Date Night

Who wouldn’t want to look at this ridiculous (yet handsome) face!

And drink a yummy strawberry smoothie?!

Thanks for the gift card, mom! We feel fancy. ;)

  • Prince Chair Update

Remember THREE YEARS AGO when I showed you the awesome chair we found by a dumpster?  Joe claimed it as his “man chair”, and then I don’t think I ever showed you any updates.  That’s because I don’t think Joe will ever be finished modifying it, but it has definitely become the favorite chair in the house. So I’ll share some snapshots (mostly from my phone, sorry) of the redo process, and then end with lots of pictures of my cats. Aren’t you excited!?

He took it all apart, removed the nasty old fabric and gave everything a good cleaning. He also had to fix a broken chair arm.

Then he sanded all the wooden pieces, because he originally had planned to restain the chair.

Then all of the pieces sat in a closet for a couple of years. Then we moved to Oklahoma. Then I started sighing heavily every time Joe would drag my princess chair into the middle of the living room to play video games. So Joe got motivated to do something with the forgotten chair pieces. I gave him a color scheme to work with, and he decided to paint the frame white and recover the upholstery with a steel grey fabric.

This picture makes me laugh because I just now noticed Khloe in the background. Why is she staring at a closed window? It’s so sad.

I love how it turned out.  Khloe uses it as her lion cave sometimes.

So we’re all happy to finally have matching prince and princess chairs. Which we sometimes use to play Skyrim on date night. ;)

What’s that Khloe?  You’re not 100% happy?  Why?

Oh, well. Technically its the MAN chair…so he gets first dibs.  Sorry, girl.

  • Comic: #ThingsINeverThoughtIdSay

Joe makes weaponry and armor based on history/video games. I come across the most random stuff while cleaning. ;)

  • Look what I got…

Well, this was supposed to be a picture of the cool purple glass bottle (with a cork!!) that my mom found for me….but it kind of turned into a Newly photoshoot.  ;)

    He’s so handsome, I can’t help myself.

    Enjoy your weekend!!

  • Cotton Candy ‘Stache

I can’t remember if I’ve shared these before, but they’re totally worth sharing again if I have, hahaha.

  • 30 Day Drawing Challenge: Day 5

    Your Best Friend

I decided to doodle Bekah. I thought about doodling my momma, too. I seem to think of two things for every challenge. I’m taking it to mean I have lots of happy in my life. :)
  • Sunday Self Love

Thanks to Pinterest and my constant search for the perfect printable list to get my life organized….I came across The Daily Self Love Worksheet.

I thought it looked kind of fun, so I printed one out. Then I attempted to fill it out. It wasn’t exactly fun. I chewed on my pen for 10 minute intervals as I searched my heart and my brain trying to answer all of the questions.  No, it wasn’t fun. But it was heart cleansing.  It was mind clearing. It was so needed. I didn’t want to overwhelm myself, so instead of filling one out every day, I decided to save this one and re-read it throughout the month to remind myself of all that I had written down.

    It’s a good re-focuser for me.

Here it is all filled out:

If you want your own copy, you can find it here.

    Happy Sunday!
