My purple has already faded quite a bit, but here it is!

I was so excited that my hair matched my makeup.

We left Thursday after Joe got off work and drove 15 hours through the night to Tennessee! We spent the weekend with Bekah and Andrew. It was the halfway point between us (OKC) and them (VA Beach). It did rain at the end, but it was so fun to camp and hike and eat and talk and just enjoy nature! Bekah and Andrew are so honest and open and refreshing to be around. I love them!!
We got to the campsite around 2pm and immediately went exploring! I attempted to jump from rock to rock and fell in within the first 30 minutes we were there. Joe was trying to be a gentleman and help me across and I totally slipped on a mossy rock and took him down with me. Bekah always says her face hurts from smiling so much when we get together, and after laughing at me and Joe knocking each other over like dominoes she was already complaining that her face hurt, hahaha.
Here are our brave men.

My friend Beth (the one who did our business cards!) kindly photoshopped these fairy wings on Bekah for me. The picture needed fairy wings.

Our first group shot! Getting across the water and up on to that rock was not an easy task for me, but it was SO fun.

Andrew left to gather firewood and came back with flowers for Bekah.

My man has no shame when it comes to blowing bubbles.

Our campsite:

Yay!

This waterfall was so pretty. The picture doesn’t do it justice. The funny part is that Bekah and I had gotten into a really deep conversation (so much to catch up on in so little time!!) and we were walking way ahead of the guys. We totally hiked right on past this waterfall without even seeing it. It wasn’t until we were on the way back that we saw it and the guys couldn’t believe we’d completely missed it.

A bunch of tarzans.

The lookout point! Look at those mountains and clouds!

The guys carved our initials into a log bench.

“Joe, your sticks look like antlers! Make a deer face!”

Poor guys gathered all this firewood and carried it up some pretty steep hills, and then it poured rain on the last little bit of the hike. All the wood ended up being too wet to use.

Joe played guitar for us around the campfire (when it wasn’t raining). Bekah dyed my hair in the middle of the rainstorm. We hid out in the camp bathroom. I have blonde and purple highlights! I will share pictures soon!

I love this, this was the last meal we ate together that weekend. Our campfire wouldn’t stay lit, so we grabbed charcoal and lighter fluid and found a nearby pavillion to eat dinner in and stay dry. The guys shared the one purple umbrella while they cooked dinner in the pouring rain.

This was fun, but we already decided our next trip should be a cheap cruise, where they prepare all the food for you!

I walked down to my apartment complex office the other day and saw this on the sidewalk. It makes me happy to know that someone nearby loves sidewalk chalk as much as I do. I’ve been meaning to go down there and write a purple “HELLO” next to it.

While I was at the office I picked up our pool pass. I’ve never used any of the pools at our previous complexes (even in Florida!!) but for some reason this year feels different. I can’t wait for the pool to open. I haven’t owned a swimsuit since in like, 10 years. It’s on my 43things list.

I get to go camping with my Bekah this weekend! I’ll share more details later, but I am so excited for some girl time. We are bringing our husbands too, making this our very first couples trip together! YAY! Joe is bringing his guitar and telescope and we are stocking up on marshmallows.

I’ve been working on this sketch of my nephew JJ for a really long time. I liked where it was going, but then he sat in a folder without eyes for the last 6 months. I just couldn’t get them right. I’ve saved so many tutorials on how to draw eyes. It’s my biggest weakness!

As fun as it was to chase Joe around with “zombie JJ” I decided to pull it out and finish it the best I could, so I could move on and draw something else. I’m still not happy with the eyes but that’s okay. Moving on!

Khloe’s safe and happy place:

Newly’s safe and happy place:

(what, you don’t have tiny framed photos for your cats to enjoy? you’re missing out.)
This weekend we’re going to my safe and happy place, my parents’ ranch. We’re bringing the two kitties with us this time and riding out the tornado warnings. If we have to get in the storm shelter, there will be a lot of people, cats, and dogs cramped in one tiny space. I have no desire to know what that’s like.
Where is your safe and happy place?

My 2nd watercolor was based on a colorful dream I had (the only colorful dream I can remember ever having, actually). It was an extremely peaceful dream. Yet, somehow when I painted it, it turned into a dramatic octopus brawl. Makes me wonder what I’m feeling deep down in my heart. I love trying to interpret strange dreams. Here’s what Dream Moods had to say:
“To see an octopus in your dream means that you are entangled in some difficult matter. Your judgment is being clouded. Alternatively, the octopus indicates that you are overly possessive and maybe too clingy in a relationship. “
Interesting.
Do you dream in color?

When he first moved in, Newly used to lay on the bed and watch me play the piano. (I have a mirror on my piano because it is also my vanity/makeup area, so I get to see him creeping on me the whole time.)

I asked him if he’d help me turn the pages.

He uses his tail to point out which note I’m supposed to play next.

The sound of my metronome app was too enticing to resist.

Having four mittens makes him twice the player that I am!

Technically, yes. I think I saw one roll into the laundry room.
I’ve been saving this comic for a while, so I could post it at Easter.
